Hear about the transition to renewable energy in your region at the Queensland Community Renewables Forum in Roma

Queensland communities are key to the successful transition to sustainable, reliable, and cost effective energy.

Queensland Community Renewables Forums provide an early opportunity for locals to hear about upcoming developments and build a shared understanding of the benefits from these projects as well as the ways in which impacts will be managed.

Building on the success of the first two Queensland Community Renewables Forums held in the Western Downs and Isaac regions in 2024, the initiative continues in the Maranoa Region, where communities, industry, and government are coming together to have conversations about what this energy transition means for local areas.

The Queensland Renewable Energy Council (QREC) is pleased to announce the next Queensland Community Renewables Forum will be held in Roma on Tuesday 1 April 2025. A  community site visit to Dulacca Wind Farm is also on offer for Forum attendees on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.

This free site visit will give community members a unique chance to learn firsthand how a wind farm operates and see the wind turbines up close. The visit will provide valuable insights into renewable energy production and the technologies behind wind power.

The Queensland Community Renewables Forum initiative has been developed by Queensland Renewable Energy Council (QREC) in collaboration with Coexistence Queensland, with the assistance of a grant from the Queensland Government.

The Queensland Community Renewables Forum initiative serves as a vital platform for connecting the renewable energy industry with regional communities, focusing on the “Why,” “What,” and “How” of renewable energy development. Supported by State and Local Governments, as well as the agriculture, resources, and conservation sectors, the Forum aims to:

  • Enhance support and coordination within the renewable energy industry through clear information sharing.
  • Supporting shared understanding and collaborative problem-solving among all stakeholders in the energy transition.
  • Build lasting, trust-based relationships between the industry and local communities.
