Queensland aims to be a leader in the responsible development of sustainable, reliable and cost-effective energy as part of the transition to renewables.
Starting in Miles on 10 July, the Queensland Community Renewables Forums will provide an opportunity for a shared understanding of what this nation-building energy transition means for local areas.
Each forum will bring together the renewable energy industry, communities and local and state governments to talk about the potential decades-long benefits ahead for communities as well as the ways in which impacts will be managed.
Under the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan and under the Energy (Renewable Transformation & Jobs) Act 2024, the State is required to more than triple potential renewable energy generation by 2035.
Regional Queensland is at the heart of this transformation, which will drive the creation of jobs and business opportunities for regional and remote areas including First Nations communities.
The peak renewable energy body Queensland Renewable Energy Council and the independent statutory body Coexistence Queensland are hosting a series of events that will feature information booths from local renewable energy developers and presentations from a range of speakers in the energy, agriculture and government sectors. The events, called Queensland Community Renewable Forums, are supported by the Queensland Government.
